Payload Remaining Calculator

Payload is usually the first limit a half-ton truck hits when towing a camper. Enter the payload number from the yellow "Tire and Loading Information" sticker on your driver's door jamb.

How it works

Remaining payload = sticker payload − people − cargo − tongue/pin weight − hitch hardware. Tongue weight rides on the truck, so it counts as payload, not just towing.

Aftermarket add-ons (bed caps, tonneau covers, toolboxes, bigger wheels) also eat payload. The sticker number reflects the truck as it left the factory.

Safety note: These are planning estimates, not a guarantee your setup is safe or legal. Always verify with your truck's door-jamb sticker, the manufacturer's towing guide for your exact configuration, the trailer's VIN sticker, and a real weigh at a CAT scale. Never exceed any rating.
